I'm so sorry there's no improvement. I have been wondering how she was. Any idea how long you'll have to wait for the referral appt?
Hopefully not too long. The lovely vet nurse marked it as an urgent referral as I’m so worried about her.I'm so sorry there's no improvement. I have been wondering how she was. Any idea how long you'll have to wait for the referral appt?
We did do that for a little bit last night, but on the painkillers she feels totally fine and I worry about her trying to jump off the sofa and doing some damage to herself. Can she be lifted to sit with you? I’d be devastated not to have puppy snuggles.
She’ll love an extra smooch. I’m a worrier so I won’t relax until I know what the problem is. Even if it’s bad news I’d rather know!Sorry to hear about Roxie…I was wondering too how she was doing.
Fingers crossed for you both the referral will find out definitely what’s wrong. Give her a get well smooch from me![]()
Not knowing is the hardest thing to deal with. Its good the painkillers work to give her relief though, despite having to watch her more closely so she doesn’t over exert herself. We did do that for a little bit last night, but on the painkillers she feels totally fine and I worry about her trying to jump off the sofa and doing some damage to herself.

PM you. She’s got an appointment at the Ralph tomorrow.
It’s an hour’s drive and I’ll have both kids with me but I’d rather get her seen sooner rather than later.
She didn’t have any symptoms beforehand so I think it was caused by the tumble.I’m sorry to hear that. Do you think the tumble you mention she had prior to acute symptoms showing maybe exacerbated it?

I didn’t think to ask about physio, but the goal at the moment is to keep her still as possible I think.I'm really sorry about the diagnosis, and really hope that more rest improves things.
Is it something that can be helped with gent6physio?
It's not something I know much about.I didn’t think to ask about physio, but the goal at the moment is to keep her still as possible I think.
I think the physio my lad goes to sees quite a few dogs with IVDd but the referral vet will tell you when it’s recommended I’m sure .I didn’t think to ask about physio, but the goal at the moment is to keep her still as possible I think.
So sorry to hear about your dog. My dog, small breed, had a bad back a few years ago. I did not pick him up, if I needed to carry him upstairs or get him into the garden, he walked into a small crate, zipped up and let him out when we got outside or upstairs. Hope this helps. He made a full recovery but he is not allowed to go up and downstairs or jump up and down onto the sofa or our bed. She’s been getting really sore in between painkillers doses so I spoke to the Ralph and we’ve upped the dose.
However tonight she yelped when I picked her up to take her out for a wee which she’s not done this whole time and was very sad for a while after.
I’m leaning towards taking her back and booking the surgery. She’s been rested for almost a month now and isn’t showing any improvement.
I’m not sure it’s fair to leave her in a crate with no improvement for much longer, then go for the surgery and need more crate rest. I worry for how she’ll adjust to being back out in the world once she’s allowed out again.
I’m feeling very down and worried about her. The baby is waking every 30mins overnight and it’s so hard to make decisions when you’re sleep deprived.
I’ve had a read overnight and I don’t think we qualify. It sounds fabulous though!Have you looked at the Cambridge vet school medical option? I’ve not looked into it to be honest and I’m sure Ralph will have an opinion but I don’t know many that go through the upheaval of surgery and the rehab that entails without it being essential from a function point of view.

This has been a consideration a couple of times for us. Crate rest and hope, or run to surgery with probably the same amount of time in the crate. It's why we agreed to the vet's suggested back to back surgeries 2 years ago. It lessened the total time in a crate. I can't advise, I have zero experience of this, but the time factor for me with a young otherwise healthy dog helped me make up my mind. It's an awful dilemma to face. She’s been getting really sore in between painkillers doses so I spoke to the Ralph and we’ve upped the dose.
