I've not sold a horse before so would like some advise from those in the know! Here are the detals: 15.1.hh tb grey mare 5yrs homebred by Komaite. Ex race horse. Recentley placed 4th&8th at Stockland lovell & westwilts unaffilated odes. Loves to jump- never stops. Schooled with ease around intro/pre novice B.E tracks. Smart paces on the flat. Entered Ascott-u-wychwood and Nutwell court intros this month. She is easy to do, sweet temperment. Though as a tb not suitable for a complete novice. open to vet.
What do you think? I was going for somewhere round the £4000 mark..

had a look at similar adverts, some are selling up to 6k, but these horses have qualified for things already, i would say you could probably get a bit more than 4k, i am no expert but if she is as good as she sounds i would price her at a bit higher. i think based on the fact that shes been out, and has been placed she is rpobably worth more than 4k,,,, but im no expert!

I think for 4k you would have a very quick sale - she is lovely and just how I hope my boy will be in 2 years time. I would advertise for 5k myself.

Thanks she is a lovely horse, sadly I don't own her (she belongs to my OH's dad who bred her to race) And at 5'11 I'm 2 big for her otherwise I'd of brought her! I schooled her yesterday round the pre novice B.E track at Shipton Moyne and she poped round so easily..perhaps I should ask for a bit more as shes so genuine. No tack or rugs I'm afraid, as I'm using my own horses tack on her.

Haha! Sorry guys wish I could..Yep shes on Horse Quest i've had 5 calls, a couple were just hacking homes, so I put them off as she needs to compete really, as shes got so much potenial and enjoys it! I'm going to take some conformation pics to send to the other 3 people as they requested- will post them on here later if you'd like a look? We have also got her mum and 2 half brothers and a half sister on the farm too. So far they've proved to be a bit too laid back (slow!) for racing. But all have nice temperments, so hopefully I'll have a nice supply of eventers for the next few years!!

Agree somewhere around 5-6K if she is totally straightforward with established flatwork. The only thing that will put people off is the having raced but there will be a good home out there. Might is be worth doing a few Intros so that she has a BE record?

She looks really smart - there are certainly people out there paying more than 4K for horses not as nice as her

I'd price her at least 5K - more if you aren't in a hurry

Yep the pic is from West Littleton- that was her first ODE. Yes I agree the fact that she's raced does put people off, which is a same as so many ex racers go on to other jobs. And the good thing about being broken in and taken out so early, is shes totally unphased and not spokey at competitions. The only thing that might put people off is I jump her in a waterford snaffle as she responds better in this..... I think I might wait and see how she gets on at her two intros first...

I am actually surprised you have said 4k - Ive seen horses who havent half the appeal of your girl advertised (and I can only imagine, being sold ) for more han your girl. Id have put 6k as her asking price. I wouldnt be put off by her having raced especially if (being a homebred) you were willing to produce her vet history. Some of the trainers do this whensending their ex racers to sales. My main worries when buying an ex racehorse are buying a horse who has had tendon trouble or a fracture - minor injuries wouldnt put me off.

If I was in the UK now Id be snapping her up!

thanks for all the nice comments guy.... I think I have underpriced her quite a bit! ...right just off to email horsequest and put the price up!!

I'm sure I've seen this advert somewhere and it caught my eye. I think you're about the right mark with £4k.
