I went to see a 14.1hh new forest x 6yo gelding today and l was wondering how much to offer for him. Hasn"t really done anything needs to put weight on and build up muscle not got an established canter but seems to be straight forward just had novice owners and took the mick really.
I know they paid 1500 but he is not worth that as needs loads of work. Thanks for looking.
 
to be honest I'd say it depends on the state of him and his manners/any bad habits he may have.

I've been around plenty of NF bought and sold. A 14.2hh reg NF unbroken can go for £900 easily.... A backed one can go for more than £1500...

So in a way I think it would depend on how many issues have been created that you will be taking on. I don't think £1500 for a 6 yr old is ridiculous at all, but it sounds like there may be issues...

I bought a roughly backed 13.1 mare 4 years ago (market has changed a bit since then) for £700 (owner was in a desperate situation). Schooled her up for 5 months and took her out to 2 shows and sold her for £2750.
