Sorry a weight question :-/

Or I could have just been working it out wrong..... it was the first time I had ever used a weight tape and at first didnt realise there was a formula and couldnt undertand why my pony was coming out at 92KG! then found the formula on the other side of the tape.... I felt very silly lol :-D

Weight tapes are largely inaccurate, particularly on cobby types. I bet if you weighed him properly, he'd come out nearer 500. That's why you should never rely on weigh tapes for dosages of wormers / drugs!

I think he looks lovely, he is well put together and balanced. I think your son looks tiny on him! I would say a rider of up to 11 stone.

No I expect you've worked it out fine - as I say, he's not a million miles from Fergs' build and he's around 400kg by weight tape. I would eat my own hat (and yours too, barbecued on a vegetable kebab) if Fergs doesn't weigh nearer the 500 mark on a weigh bridge. I know lots of folk who've compared tapes to actual weights and they're out by up to 100kg in some cases, particularly chunky ponies!

I have also measured his canon bone today and its 9" ...... I was curious as to what his canon bone was as other posts/people mentioned it about weight in their posts. :) x

I would say about ten and a half stones as he is starting to get older. My horses were a lot heavier on a weighbridge than they were when measured with a weight tape too.
