Ha ha! You will get to the stage of analysing growth rings and sole concavity and become obsessed with lateral cartilages and you will start to spout words and recite the periodic table... no-one really understands unless they are fellow geeks!

OMG so true... also you'll find that the only recent pics on your phone are your horses feet, from all angles.... which you'll find yourself staring at during completely inappropriate moments.

Haha I do this already! Must have 30 or so pictures already, that i look at regularly just to remind myself what C's feet look like, very creepy really!

Also I think I've definitely decided to go for the cavallo horse boots, at least in the beginning when we starting slowly? Any reviews and experiences on sizing?

Good choice on the cavallos. They do come up big so make sure that when you measure, buttress to toe, and you come in between sizes, go for the smaller. I have found this fitting to at least four horses.

I get mine from http://www.equinepodiatrysupplies.co.uk/Boots she is very helpful and if you do find it comes up too big, just send back and she will send next size.

You may or may not need pads, the ones that come with the cavallos are ok but I personally prefer the EPS pad, black 7.5lb ones cut to size. I find it better supports and stimulates the foot.

Oh, and at some point, this happened to all of my transitions, one foot always changes shape before the other one - just like our feet are slightly different. I have found thick mens socks to be invaluable when you need the boots but they have more give all of a sudden! Also good for rubs but generally they don't rub as they are smooth leather inside and out. You expect the foot to get "smaller" when barefoot but by this time I usually find I don't need them any more.

Thank you, very helpful indeed. Can't wait to get her fronts off now, but in the mean time we're going on our first walk barefoot behind today so wish us luck!
