Sorry another bridle question

Yes I've tried one. It does use poll pressure a bit. If you look at the roller on the cheekpiece you'll see why. It is a good design though. Much better steering than an English hackamore but much less leverage so it is pretty mild.
You'd be better looking at a scawbrig if you don't want poll pressure.

oh thank you i do see what you mean now looking at it a bit closer! Thankyou will look at the scawbrig think it might be a little too soft as she is a crazy loon!
 
I highly doubt you'll get anything else that works on just the nose and chin. Most designs use leverage of some sort and that will mean poll pressure to some extent.

What issues are you having?
 
I know, my mare has problems with her atlas bone the chiro has put it back in and she has had deep tissue massage and reiki but she is still sensitive in that area, pretty sure she always will be or will at least will think she is.

Think a scawbrig will be my best bet, she just reacts to any kind of contact at the moment.
 
Have your tried a bit that uses no poll pressure or is she wary of bits full stop? Oh...you could get one of those Barnsby magnetic crown pieces. They are pricey but really helped a Horse I used to own.
 
I've not heard of one of those will look into it! She doesn't seem to have too much of a problem with bits but she gets very stressy at times and can start chewing which obviously makes her tense! Thank you for all your help, it's really good to hear from someone who has tried these things!
 
just had a look at the magnetic crown piece it sounds like a wonderful piece of kit, we have used magnetic collars on dogs and magnetic boots on arthritic ponies but what a clever idea! AT £79 its quite a bit of money so might try the scawbrig first! Hope you don't mind but think i'll start a new thread to find out other people's experience with them!
 
Magnetic crown piece? Haven't seen it, but most of these magnetic things can be made for £5 with some magnets and some good strong material! xD (You can buy magnets specifically for 'healing purposes' online if you look around!) Great when you need them for funny places...

On another random note, what about using a kineton noseband with a very mild bit, like a straight bar snaffle? Kineton uses just nose pressure, and a mild bit like a straight bar or happy mouth isn't likely to cause the horse to be fussy or anything. Could always put a curb chain onto a bit like a hanging cheek so then you'd also get a little pressure on the underside of the jaw/chin groove without any poll pressure. The kineton also lifts the bit a little so that pressure that would go onto the tongue & bars is moved mostly onto the nose.
Dunno if it'd work or be suitable, but it came to mind xD
