As above really, what do you find to be better against the little horrors?

My horse loathes his current fly mask, and has rubbed himself in the process of getting it off in one day. He suffers badly from field mites crawling up his face however, so I dont know whether they are then getting under it and then getting trapped?

Anyway - is there a better fly mask out there, or is it fringes all the way!

Thanks in advance!

Prefer masks for horses with eye photosensivity, but fringes are safer in fields with hedgerows and trees. Found a thorn stuck in my horse's flymask just below her eye once, and subsequently heard of other accounts of eye injuries from things getting caught in them.

My hogged cob trashed every fly mask he's ever had so he wears a field safe headcollar with a fly fringe, plus I feed him Global Herbs flyfree. My other horse just has a long forelock!

I use fly fringe with the throat lash attached, that way I can duck tape it to his muzzle, I did see a nice one with ears at local Robinsons store in Cardiff the other day, I will be buying one of those, last year he had annoying little flies in his ears.

He won't keep a mask on and I always think imagine if a fly got inside and couldn't get that would drive a horse mad wouldn't it ?

I HATE masks with a passion!! I actually think they are really really dangerous. I had one on my mare years ago when they first came out. She rolled in the field and got mud on the outside over her eye. When i called her to come in she came galloping down the field and straight into the gate post. She was totally blind where the mud had dried over the outside. The mask went in the bin that day and they have been in fly fringes ever since
