A while back, I posted about my 4 yo NF mare who had started raring out of the blue and throwing creative yet volatile 'tantrums' under saddle......well, I persevered down the Veterinary route and had her referred as there had always been an odd gait behind (but was sound) and she had become funny to takc up/didn't enjoy going over little poles in school/canter was disunited beyond belief etc,
So, she went to one Vet school, who despite seeing issue in her ind legs and spine, said it was "all insgnificant" and to euthanise as she ws "dangerous"....
I ignored, made my feelings clear, took home, second opinion and voila - spavins behind and kissng spine
Bless her she's 4 & 1/2 years old
Anyhow, they are really positive that she is a good candidate for surgery and are enthusiastic about her response (I appreicate there are no guarantees), but I am still really nervous about the whole affair and know this is just the start of a very long road ahead....
Her Op has been postponed from yesterday until 26th Nov, so really got myself worked up ready and then "pleugh", no Op.
Have to work myself up again over the weekend
She's staying there for a few days so they can monitor her wound, and I know she is in the best hands (now that she is away from t'other guys!!), but it doesn't stop you worrying!
Rather a pointless post really but those of you who's neds have had the surgery, how were they when they got home and any helpful pointers to help us along??? I'm in the process of sourcing a haybar for her as we speak
