Am coming to terms with this navicular thing but it has become a steep learning curve!
Can anybody answer this for me please. Are horses with navicular also complicated with a DDFT problem better to live out 24/7 or come in at night and rest it?
Many thanks x

They are better to live out 24/7, but this is on the basis that the horse is following a barefoot programme. As my EP explained, barefoot doesn't actually "cure" navicular but enables the horse to distribute its weight to alleviate the stress on the navicular area and DDFT. It's important to get the hoof structure and balance perfect to achieve this, not just a matter of taking off the shoes and chucking the horse in a field.

A horse with navicular that is turned away should still have hard feed as a joint supplement containing MSM is beneficial. I use Suppleaze Gold, it makes a great difference.
