I've had my two rambo duo's since they were launched which I think is 3/4 years ago, they are both 6'3". I have had them professionally washed and reproofed each year. This year they are too small for my boys as bottoms are now on show

Do they shrink? or has my 22 year old and 14 year old grown

Yes they can!

I sent a masta rug to be cleaned years and years ago- it fitted my horse really well before yet after washing it was way to small.

This is why I dont believe in washing reproofing until absolute necessary (I have a leaking PE rug which'll have to be done). I use this rug and another PE one over Horseware rugs so never have to send the ones against their skin away... on saying that I change rugs every 1-2 years anyway!

Anyway, back to subject, not had any experience of Rambos shrinking but it ounds like its happened... I wouldn't be happy as they're not cheap!

Did you use the same people?

I just power wash my turnout rugs as i have found they do shrink a bit and lose some of their padding when washed.

In Rambo's defence and though i think the necks are poor, my mare stayed warm and dry today in the most foul weather out from 6am to 6pm. I sat at work worrying but didn't need to. Other horses at the yard came in cold, wet and miserable in cheaper rugs.

The boys have both put on condition and I thought it was that, but the local groom told me that rugs can shrink, which I hadn't heard so I thought I would ask fellow H&H forum ppl. I've just the same professional washer for some years now, hense why I wanted to ask the question.

I am upset the rugs are looking rather small on the two big boys but I have had excellent wear out of them. Worn for 4 winters and the last 3 summers because of the wet summers as a light weight!

I tried buying another brand of rug last winter, but after one a few months it fell apart. I've just put them on ebay today to fund a larger size Rambo as I don't want to waste money on cheaper rugs!

I bought the Premier Equine HW rugs for both my mares, and find them superior to the newer rambos which are far less deep than the older ones.

The PE rugs are still leak free after 2 winters, have fab elasticated neck covers which come right up behind their ears and are so deep that they nearly meet under their tummies.

I have a TB and a IDx so not hugely porky types, but am sadly disappointed with the newer Horseware rugs and won't be going back to them again.
