I don't know how to sensitively ask this at such an awful time, but does anyone know what happened and is her beloved horse ok. I am sure I am not the only one wondering but don't want to distract from the tragic loss of such a popular person.

I won't share any details out of respect for Janet and her loved ones but her much loved Ruari is safely home in his field.

How awful. You just don't expect that sort of thing to happen on a nice hack with a gorgeous little cob. My condolences to all who knew her and I hope her lovely boy is ok.

I hope that it is not untoward to report that the inquest into jnb's very sad death has just been held and been reported on in the local rag.

The coroner has ruled that it was accidental. There were no witnesses, she was found lying seriously injured on the road 200 yards from home, and her horse was found unharmed nearby. It will never be known just what happened.

Every time we ride a horse, this could happen to us, it is a dangerous pastime.

RIP Janet.

Like others, I pretty much never think of this happening to me when I get on my horse and go for a hack. Very sobering and tragic. I didn't know her, but I hope she's resting in peace and that her beloved horse is keeping well.
