Im having a mental block and dont think i have tried it before!

Im just wondering if you can put a bridle on over a headcollar (without doing any straps up) and then take the headcollar off from underneath? I've got the type of headcollar that un does at the nose band, as well as a clip along the throatlash.

Im in the process of training my mare to put her bridle on at shows without running off

but just in case she hasnt got the idea before next saturday I need a back up plan!

No problem if the nose part of the headcollar does up at the front rather then underneath. Just undo the noseband, slide the headcollar backwards out from underneath the bridle & then undo it. If the noseband does up under the chin it's a bit more fiddly but just undo the noseband, unclip at the throat & carefully slide the headcollar out from under the bridle forward over the ears.

Ah great, thanks!
I couldnt try it till the middle of the week to see if it would work or if i would get all the straps tangled up!

Thanks panic over!

I assume this would work if it did do up underneath, or slightly to the side (its an Aerborn headcollar if that helps) and just pull off forwards rather than backwards?

Gosh this is confusing!!

I think with the aerborns you basically have to dismantle them but it is still possible !!
Why not just leave the headcollar around the neck while you put the bridle on, then put the headcollar back on over the bridle until you're ready to ride instead of putting the bridle on over the top?

Thanks!
I tried the headcollar around the neck yesterday (which i normally do at home at the moment) whilst out having her saddle fitted, she promptly tried to b**ger off and i had no control
