I am looking to change insurance companies. Currently with E & L but heard bad reports. I have tried to increase my insured value but they won't do it cos I haven't been with them for over a year. My girl is worth three times what she is insured for at the moment, its all I could afford last year but now in a position to insure her for the correct amount. I have been in touch with the NFU and they need a vets cert which I have but wondered if there were any other good companies around. Advice/experiences would be gratefully received.
Thanks
Anita

I recommend NFU, I have had to claim a couple of times and they have been really good and quick, they are also very helpful / understanding on the phone.

NFU every time! E&L NEVER pay out - even our vets say they wont pay up on anything! Also some companies (not NFU) have some small print that says if there are more than 5 horses stabled at a yard you have to pay an extra premium to cover tack - about 0.80p a month! But if you dont pay it or dont notice it in the policey and your tack gets stolen its not covered! This happened at a yard I was at, Luckily I was with NFU and had a cheque within 2 weeks - everyone else lost out.
NFU policies can sometimes be a little more expensive but id rather pay a little more and get what im paying for rather than be ripped off

Amtrust Equine, paid out promptly when claimed, will increase value with written report from trainer, courteous, helpful would highly recommend and very competitive premiums

NFU are the best IMO. Having the unfortunately luck to have to claim from them last year - I can only commend them for their helpfulness and quick payout.

I've just insured my horse this morning with the NFU. They were great and my vet said last night that they were the best ones to deal with and that E&L they wouldn't touch with a bargepole.

Another vote for NFU. Never had a problem with them. Had a couple insured with Amlin (purchased through Brightwells sales) and had a major problem with them (still unresolved) and now all with NFU.
