sorry, done to death. . reasonably cheap towing car

As above I know this has been done loads but none of the threads fit my situation. I currently have a 4x4 but with new horse it isn't beefy enough to tow him ( gone from 14.2 to 17.2) so I should get £4000 to spend on a new one. My thoughts at the moment are a Mitsubishi shogun, nissan navara, ford ranger, Toyota hilux any other suggestions welcome but needs minimum2.5 tonne towing ability. If you have one of the above cars how would you rate it, as in what's it like to drive/tow with, everyday fuel consumption, pros, cons .... does it have heated seats ha ha?

I would go for the Hilux....whatever you do, Don't buy an Isuzu trooper or a bloody Jeep....

My Isuzu trooper was fabulous. Currently towing with a Nissn Terrano 3.0 sport. I believe the towing capacity is 3 tonne.

Yep don't buy a bloody Jeep - unless Fiat get their finger out and sort the recall out. If they do sort out the recall and we are allowed to tow again - then best towing car ever

Ranger, Mitsubishi and Hilux all tow well from exprience but for reliability definitely the Hilux wins hands down! Heard a lot horror stories about Navaras.

I had a Shogun and didn't rate it. It was always in the garage and was expensive to repair.

Got my b+e last year, just need something tougher that is reasonably priced to buy and run, I'm really liking the hilux, I'm hoping it is as reliable as people say, I have terrible history for cars dying on me, last towing car the gear box blew up
