Okay, the time is creeping up on me FAR too quickly now

i have decided not to advertise her, but to find someone via word of mouth. i have had some interest already and have already had a chat with someone over the phone about her (burst into tears as soon as i put the phone down, im such a pansy). i was wondering if there are any specific things that i should ask people, or that i should tell them when initially speaking over the phone to them? i have never had to sell or loan a horse before, so this is all horribly new. sorry for vague post, but i am just after any info (obvious or otherwise) that may be of use, need to think logically about this as am panicking already

After a long time dwelling on it I put my horse on loan 4 weeks ago and (touch wood) he seems to be fine. The person who is loaning him tried him and then I inspected the yard he was going to. I also had a contract which is of www.bhs.org.uk which I tweaked to suit me.I have 2 copies- 1 for me and 1 for them which we both signed and had witnessed.
I made a list of all the info they needed on him and the equipment that went with him which we also signed.
I am going to check him next week.

I am in the process of doing the same as charlie76, with list of equipment etc, they are having him for a fortnight first to see how they go. Got them to hack out with me and took him sj schooling in trailer- better opportunities than when you buy a horse!

Hi, thankyou for that info. i will definately use the agreement and make lists etc. i have no choice but to loan her out as am off to manchester uni in sept

i'm glad all seems to be going well for you so far, i'm just scared of the whole thing tbh. she is such a lovely lass, and as long as she is fed, she will settle fine wherever she is. i, on the other hand, will be a wreck!

thanks kc, we will trailer the horse over to a local arena with a full course of SJ to be tried, as i want her to go somewhere that she will be jumped. good luck with yours!

I also used the loan agreement too and copied and pasted to suit my needs and gave one to the lady I loaned from and also sent a copy to my insurer. It was all read out between the loaner and myself with witnesses and then signed by all parties.
The loan agreement I had was in pdf format. If you have trouble with it in anyway please feel free to pm me.
I cut and pasted into a word document as the pdf format is it saved as would not allow overtyping ( unless that can be changed and I don't know how).
Good luck though and I hope you find the right person but I would use the loan agreement so that all the parties concerned know where they stand.
