Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
Let everyone do what they choose, they paid for their horses not you and if they want to spend their money on the latest gedgets you let them...you don't have to, do you?
Ok so looking at this objectively, Commonsence.... would you suggest that more than 50% of the supplements and aid, which you talk about are detrimental to horses health?
Sorry but don't have time for this - I've got to go and give my horse some Aloe vera, some drugs, some massage therapy, put on his whale music so he can sleep properly, and iron his pyjamas before bedtime...now where did I put his Winnie the Pooh teddy; he just won't settle without it...
So what if an owner decides to buy a new pink rug? I can't say I've been on a yard recently where any horse was suffering.
I bet pretty much every owner on here, if asked, would be able to give a reason why they use what they use, why they feed what they feed and do things the way they do.
I'm also pretty sure that most people would intervene if a horse was suffering - I know I would.
Things have moved on, and often for the better - I've had one of my girls 10 years, when I first got her, things like feed balancers didn't exist - Oh how I wish they did, they would have saved me alot of heartache, and real ache, where I fell off because the feeds we had just didn't suit her. I can also think of horses than 15/16 years ago who would also have benefited.
Ditto bitting - all the new designs and metals. My first yard had only snaffles, kimblewicks, doubles & pelhams. One of ours goes much better in a gag - at 9st, theres no way I'd hold 17.2h of fit horse otherwise - but it keeps us safe.
Hats, and body protectors - again the world has moved on.
Change is not always negative, however great sweeping statements such as the ones you make DO get everyones backs up.
I will now go and ride my horse, school her in a snaffle while she wears pink bandages and I have flowery jods on.

Yes I would agree with this statement in the wrong hands there is ALOT that can be very detrimental to horses. It's the lack of general equine knowledge, you only have to look at 75% of the posts on this forum and see the questions and you should realise at least half should not be owning horses!
Oh my daysss ... apparently people arent entitled to their own opinions these days ... if you want to make a post fine but dont expect everyone to just agree with what you say, its not how the world works
So no need for the agression
I dont think anybody here takes their horse's welfare as a joke & the fact that they spend all this money looking after them kinda backs up my point.
I dont mean this in an angry way .. just thought i would say
Totally see where you are coming from and actually agree - to a certain extent. Each to his own though, I won't buy pink rugs etc, but others will and do, their choice. As long as the horse is healthy and happy.
Maybe you could benefit from a supplement such as 'Moody Mare'? to help with your temperament issues?
It's not going to do any good to keep insulting people.
Yes some bits are used more for fashion and with bad riders who don't understand such gadgets this pees me right off. However, rugs and bandages and boots and bling are personal choice and as long as not a complete numpty most people probably cause no problems with items such as these.
You can't say that half the people on here shouldn't have a horse, that's ridiculous.
Now, has anyone got any popcorn? Toffee is my fave but i'm all out
Maths might not be my strong point, but I do know that all the thousands of horses that have been rescued and those that haven't yet didn't and won't come from me I know where each and every one of mine is and it's not filling rescue centres because I bought it on a whim dressed it in the latest pink or diamonte and the tossed it away when I got a new toy

I'm afraid that this is non-sense!!
You are totally contradicting yourself! So now it is not the supplements and boots (?) that are the issue, it is the ignorant horse owners?!
Would be interested to know in your obvious superior knowledge if you would class me as one of the forum members who should not be owning a horse?
Considering that horses cost a lot of money to buy, more money to keep and substantial time and effort to look after their welfare, I think, once again that statement is a very sweeping one!!!
It is NOT the normal thing that good horse owners and knowledgeable people do!!!
