Sorry got to rant!

My horse owns pink rugs, pink fluffy numnah, pink crystal browband, is fed treats and I talk to her, too - what an awful owner I am, the horse is clearly suffering - NOT

I don't have any tack for my horse as she's only 10 months old apart from head collars and lead ropes obviously

I do however have a lovely set of pink Bentley grooming brushes and a pink feed bucket

Do these count?

If anyone took the time to read my FIRST POST they would realise I did not mention type or colour of rugs, I was just saying I don't feel any of what I listed is necessary!!!

No need to shout, my eyes are not deaf.

I think the term 'tongue in cheek' is relevant here...

Oh you're back!!!

I think if you look at the posts, you'll discover that people are being sarcastic because your statements were such generalisations.

Perhaps, if you were a little more tolerant, you would realise that all horses are not the same, and that, each may need different things, and perhaps certain items.

As such, if horse owners chose to use said items, and the horse's welfare is not compromised then it is not really your edit to tell them whether to or not. You may have an opinion, and all opinions are worthy, but you do not have the right to dictate!

You can't generalise so much though, it's horses for courses - of course some people go OTT with supplements and rugs etc but the fact is that some horses need them. Yes natives might be happy living in grass, but other, finer types need the help, especially in parts of the UK with harsher climates (eg the north of Scotland).

I also feel that my colleague might take exception to your comment on Cushings, as her pony was in no way mollycoddled - just elderly.

And yes - tongue, cheek, insert here.

PMSL- probably had too many un-needed supplements and training aids!!!

ETS: my horse had to have the vet out today for a mild colic attack- perhaps I should have left him to suffer and die a slow and painful death or have him PTS rather than intervene with modern medications.

Perhaps then I would be worthy of owning a horse?!!

All stuff and nonsense, I chopped off my horses feet to save on shoeing and he rides on his stumps just as he would in the wild, he's thin as a rake as he wasn't fed all winter, only natural as there wouldn't be any food in the wild, mind you he cant eat anyway as his back teeth are overgrown as we dont beleive in dentists, well he wouldn't get one in the wild would he so it must be right, he only has one eye as the other one got an abcess and rotted out, totally natural as there are no vets in the wild, too much bloody molly coddleing in this day and age as far as I can see.

Why can't people just let horses be horses?

[/ QUOTE ]

By this sentence alone, I presume that you have released all of your horses into the wild and will have no further contact with them?
For their own sake....

Lol! sorry, that mad me (a deaf person) ROFL!!!!

I cannot believe that there is someone so rude on here!!!

My mare, a Fell, was slowly dying because of being left to her own devices for over 2 years....she is now the picture of health - although still a little tubby - and is happier than I have ever seen her. She has 2nd hand rugs, a stable made of bales in the sheep barn, and supplements to assist in her recovery, and make her life better.
Should I just open the gate and let her go again?

You Muppet..perhaps you should think before you speak..and remember that a closed mouth gathers no feet.

Last I heard She-ra was mid thirty's, fat with two kids by Heshe-man and living in a trailor park on the south coast is that you?

[/ QUOTE ]
Hahahahahahahahahaha! You're doing a fantastic job of sticking to your argument and defending your stance against the 'fluffing' of horses. Nothing like sticking to your guns

......and only today I was thinking just how CUTE would my ickle baby boy look in a lovely snugly pair of red pig snuggy jams so his ickle tummy didn't get cold in winter time...and if I were to buy him a set, what fecking business is it of yours?

Just a serious thought for a moment - thank wotsit that if people don't know about something that they dare ask.

OP - I wonder how you'll feel if someone gets scared to ask due to your post, and as a result a horse suffers?

[/ QUOTE ]

Not wanting to flatter myself!!! but i'm not sure if i started all this and have been wondering if i should post a reply or not. (Sorry if i did

Mrs M has got it exactly right that's the feeling i've got however it won't stop me asking silly little questions because i value my horses more than i do that of someone that feels it necessary to enforce their opinions on someone in such a rude and sharpe tounged way. As they say "It's not what you say it's how you say it."

All i want to say now to people especially new users or people that are thinking of joining, is don't let people who start threads like this put you off, your horse is worth more than them. There are so many lovely people out there that are genuinely interested and wanting to help. I thank all of them for the advice i've been given so far and i've only been a member for a little while.

Think i want to smile now i've got that of my chest

I ride my just broken (on a professional breaking and schooling yard) 5 year old in a dutch gag on the second ring and a flash noseband. None of you on here know me or my horse, yet there are people (e.g OP) who would feel happy to judge me with no prior knowledge or information, if they were to see me out and about on my horse. I have very good reasons for what I do.

Which in my opinion makes Commonsence more of a Know-It-All.

Ahh, well they count as long as you promise to buy her some more pink, glitter and diamonds for her 4th birthday(or when you start backing her.)

Nope, you just listed them as rugs in general.

[ QUOTE ]
Why does there seem to be so many numpty's about who have to treat there horses like children, buying them all the latest fashion, rugs, supplements, boots and general crap?

[/ QUOTE ]

And pink rugs, swarovski crystals and all things fluffy seem to be the 'lastest fashion' - everyone has them. My horse has all these things and hasn't been just passed on to the nearest rescue centre. Most of the things you mentioned have absolutely nothing to do with how the horse is cared for and you say that judging by half the posts on this forum a lot of us shouldn't own horses - where exactly are all these terrible posts?
