Can I just get some guidance on a resonable asking price to advertise this mare at, and also where you would advertise for her target market

She is an 8yo perlino 14.3hh Hungarian warmblood mare, been used for breeding in the past so still green under saddle. Pretty certain we could measure her in at 14.2 is we tried (having seen the difference in what we measure them at and what the JMB masures the show horses).
Due to my accident she's not done a lot under saddle but is a seriously fast learner and we think shows a lot of talent. Really loose swinging mover, great active hind leg and would be a very eye catching little dressage mount. She wouldnt be suitable for a novice being green herself but she's be so much fun for the right person.
My friend came and sat on her for the first time yesterday and we got these pics, so I will use one of them to advertise her. So where would you advertise her and any ideas on price?

She's very unusual isn't she??

I would only price her at around the £1.5k mark - apols if that insults.

H&H to advertise.

shes sweet looking, i think that if you wanted to sell her now as she is, then would say 2k 2.5k, if however with a little work and some dressage shows or some jumping under her belt(and topline muscle she obviously weak behind the saddle) she could be worth alot more!! poss 4k to 4.5!!

horsequest
horsemart

edited coz my spell checks off with stress!!!

She's going to appeal to a certain market isn't she? That said, she's not too badly put together. If you can get a bit more work done with her then probably around 2.5k, if she does a lot more work & gets a bit of show experience then you could probably increase that a bit. Shame you can't find her a rider in the meantime

I think she is nice, very unusal and quite pretty. I would think somewhere around the £2-2.5K mark.

But I know nothing about her breeding and rarity value, that is just going on as if she was a bay or similar.

Thanks everyone around 2.5k was what I had in mind at the moment, as I know I cant ride for at least another week or two. As soon as I can get back in the saddle I'll try and get some work and mileage into her as she could be great fun.

I dont know whether to try the H&H 3k and under section or Horsequest. H&H is only for a week and on Horsequest they disappear so fast down the list. Horsemart I never look at to be honest so not sure what type of market would read it/look on it

I would use photo 4 or 7 in the advert. I am not good at prices tho!!
She's a pretty little thing would make the right person very happy!

I would say £2k - £2.5k. She would be valuable to palomino breeders. I like her a lot. I hope you find her a good home. Will look out for her being advertised in case I win the lottery in the meantime

Sorry but I have an irrational fear of horses with pink round their eyes. Don't know why but just always think they should have black eyes. Much more prettier.

I would say, and I have a lot of experience just now cos have been searching all sorts of websites looking for my next horse, £2.5k. Use Horsequest and you could probably add another £2k onto that!!!!!

I wouldn't worry about the ad moving down the site quickly cos if people are really looking for a horse then they check the websites every day (I've got all mine on my favourites!) and even then I sometimes still scroll down to check on whether I might have missed one!!!

Well I think she is gorgeous, i would have her like a shot. If she is tested as perlino, that is double crem gene and preferably double agoutti and Ee (red and black) she would be such a useful brood mare to produce duns. Price does depend on who is chasing her, a breeder may be willing to pay more but really in my opinion she would need to be more a cob type to get the higher prices. i have just bought a 14.2 ten year old Welsh section D cross which was advertised at £2500 but I payed rather less, hope that helps.

Hi, I'm certain you would get a minimum in 2.5k for this mare if she is verified parantage and perlino. The market for the double dilutes is massive and moving fast. The cremello's are perfect for producing palomino's but the perlino's produce Buckskins (dun) and these are very saleable! I wouldn't advertise on horsequest as there is no word search option, make sure you use the word PERLINO in her tital, and i would use adhorse.co.uk or horsemart.co.uk as people (like myself) will regularly search for cremello or perlino. Make sure you know if she is cremello or perlino though as people will specifically what to know which she is... Perlino would come from buckskins where cremello would come from palomino, And perlino's are MUCH thinner on the ground!

I don't want to be pedantic, but Buckskin is different from dun. Buckskin is essentially bay diluted by one creme gene, Dun is an entirely different gene.

Also, it is possible to get a perlino from a palomino, or a cremello from a buckskin depending on whether either parent was homozygous dominant or recessive for extension.

''I don't want to be pedantic, but Buckskin is different from dun''

Yes you are quite right, but a lot of people are not aware what a buckskin is which is why i bracket the DUN so people have an idea of color even if they aren't in to the genetics as to an amature eye dun and buckskin are highly comparable although genetically totally different.

I was just trying to highlight the reasons perlinos are popular without going in to too much technical reasoning...
