I don't go on any other forums so I was hoping that despite not being horse related it is very people related and I just don't know how to find out otherwise. I need a good divorce solicitor - I don't know anyone who has had a good one, they all seem to have had nightmares of divorces, it doesn't seem to make any difference whether they are men or woman who have needed help. I'm not a young flipperty gibbert, so have to consider the future, I'm not even 100% certain whether me and my husband will split up, but it is very much on the cards. But having done the so familiar thing of stopping working full time and working part time while the kids were young I am now in a position of very little pension, so know that things could be really difficult for me if I do leave. This scares me. I don't want huge amounts of money, but I do want to survive without having to work full time till I'm 70.

It may not be a solicitor I need, but someone who can give me good practical advice on where I stand. Citizen's advice etc haven't been that helpful.

I've done a naughty and created a new id on here because various people know me in my normal guise .... and just at the moment I couldn't deal with that.

Can anyone help? I'm beginning to panic. I suppose the best areas would be Northwest England, around Manchester, but could go anywhere around there for the right person to talk to.

Now that would be rather a long round trip!!

My divorce lawyer was great but he was a friend who did it for me as a favour. I hope that you get some good advice soon. Lots of sols give 30 mins or an hour free consultation, that should help give you an idea of which way to play it. Good luck xxx

poor you - have been in this situation and although cannot recommend a good solicitor near you, i would agree that solicitors do give the first 30 mins free normally. This would help you see your 'options' a little more clearly? Beware though - as soon as clock goes past that 30 mins the £££ stack up. Good luck in whatever you decide - never easy.

I know a good multi-practice solicitors in Leeds - done various bits of work for me and always been good

PM me if you want their details - and the 30 min free advice can be from any local solicitor

also think about not using a very local solicitor - as you never know - a freied of a friend or a neighbour might just work in that solicitor's office......

I never use a local solicitor - I always use a firm at least 20 miles away from where I live for that reason.
