up my way the weathers finally starting to change. its baltic at night and pretty mild during the day.

fox is currently in a light-medium weight turnout with a neck cover but hes been really warm when ive brought him in the past 2 days. the only other turnout i have is a lightweight with no neck cover, but i think its still too cold at night for this. i cant get up in the mornings to change his rugs before turnout, and feel its too much to ask YO as he's not very horsey and fox doesnt seem to like him too much either, plus he has all his cows and lambing sheep to deal with just now too.

any ideas what i could do? sorry annoying thread i know!

ETA he is fully clipped!

My TB is currently out with a light/medium weight rug at night and naked during the day … can you not get a really cheap lightweight until it warms up a little more? The others on my yard are naked day/night ...

A good horse vet said to me some years ago that they are better too cold than too hot - if they need warming up they can always move around, but they can't do anything if they are too hot.

I in the same situation, I went for the lighter rug as I felt it was worse if he over heated. My Ffin is quite a warm horse.

fox is so bloody sensitive, and cos he's fully clipped im having images of his standing in like a ice cube at night :o

i have a lightweight haha.. thats what i mean i think he'll be too cold at night with just the lightweight as hes a fully clipped tb

Better too cold than too hot.

A hot horse is imprisioned in the rug, whereas a cold horse has several ways of increasing its body temperature.

My cob used to be everyone's personal radiator on chilly days.

Not silly at all. I stood and argued with myself for ages last night about what to do rug wise. Final decision was off with the neck, drop the liner from 200-100 and see how she is. Today she was comfortably warm. I'm central scotland, so our weather will be much the same.
