Hi All,

Have made the decision to move my Mare from Grass Livery to Full Livery next wk - super excited, as I think its the best for us!

So heres my silly question - for Weather @ moment what sort of stable rug should I have on her??? Oh & if anyone knows of any website which stocks " Funky types of rugs ( patterned & in bright colours ) please let me know:)

Depends where in the country you are and your horse- if it's clipped, does it feel the cold , are they warm or cold stables?

Anyway my boy is fully clipped and he's only in a fleece just now .

Am in Dublin - She is getting a blanket clip next wk as she is sweating up alot when exercised - Where she will be she wont be affected by the wind etc BUT as yard is up quite high it does get quite cold at night.

She has been rugged up for couple of wks out now as one of the days I went up & she was literally shaking with the cold.. She is not a fine breed but obviously feels the cold.

Hi it really depends on your horse, for example is she clipped / very hairy / chunky native type or not.....my two are both natives not clipped yet and have been wearing a light fleece up to now. They won't wear stable rugs until the temperature drops to about 2 or 3 degrees or when they get clipped. If your horse is a finer type she might need a medium weight rug on now the night time temps are beginning to drop. Some people prefer to leave turnout rugs on overnight as this is a good way to dry them and most makes are breathable nowadays.
