Hi All

Sorry to be putting the umpteenth thread on here but I am in the process of looking into buying a lorry and I have seen a few Renault Midlum's on the market (not the 3.5t, its a 7.5t chassis)

Does anyone own one? has had one in the past? knows someone with one?

Are they reliable? common problems? etc etc

would be grateful for any info

Cxx

Hi

Not much help but I would NEVER buy a renault car of any type having had a bad car experience.

My worry would be spares - when do you ever see these Midlum's on the road - not exactly as common as DAF etc. Would your current mechanic be happy working on it?

Not much help so....BUMP

As the other poster has said - I have no idea about these either BUT I remember when looking for a new wagon the other year that I had never really seen any midlums about and I actually didn't like the look of a lot of the wagons I saw that were on that that chassis. I would maybe just do a search on google or something and see what you can dig up.

I suppose I would question WHY there are not more horseboxes built on this chassis, why are DAFs, Ivecos, Cargos and Mercs more common? It could be an engine power issue, who knows. I would be concerned about getting parts for them though as that's when it starts to cost, when things go wrong!!!

I look at the midlum, but the parts are more expensive and there are less of them around

I went for a DAF, as much easier and cheaper to get parts and haven't really met anyone that said a bad word about them!

We have one we bought as an ex-Demo from Renault 7 years ago and (touch wood) we have never had any problems apart from batteries and fuel filter, Charlimouse has one aswell iirc :).
