Just wanted to share with you something that made me ever so happy last night! One of my pupils won a riding club dressage champs with 70% (Prelim). To some of you this might be like nothing but if you remember my old post about a lady who thought she has no 'feel', lost all her belief that she can ride well, always came last or close to last when out competing and who thought her horse was a total anti-talent (average of 45% in unaff Prelims

) you will understand that I am overjoyed

I am quite a strict instructor, and yes I torture people on the lunge a lot and I make them reflect in writing on what they do etc etc and some can't be bothered. But I am getting more and more confident that my system-in-progress is working and I would like to say to all of you who have doubts in your abilities and your horses' abilities that you think twice how you train and whether it is helping.
Anyway, thank you for reading and I will just shut up now and try to hide my grin

Keep training

I do remember reading your previous post about this lady.... huge congratulations to you for getting her and her horse to where they are now - and you can pass on a big well done to them from me as well!

I hope your 'system-in-progress' really IS working, and that you can help so many more *lost* riders in the future.

Thank you

I sure will tell her! She qualified a few weeks ago with 64% so winning on 70% was wonderful

Of course she wouldn't be herself if she didn't say that the judge was generous! Typical

My little 'system' is very much in progress (and will be for years to come) but developing it is as rewarding as is seeing the riders develop and succeed in their pursuits

Thank you

I think there is a lot up to the rider and she did an amazing job! The little horse also changed a lot and when we now watch the training videos from December last year it's hard to believe it's the same boy. We are moving to novice tests next month and if they do well and horsey cooperates I am going to talk her to try uffiliated events on tickets to see what the 'pros' have to say

Yay, persuade her to go for it if you can - you're never too old (well I probably am but I wouldn't let anyone else tell me that). Seriously - it's so important to think positive whether you're 7 or 70.
