I've got a 15.1 Connemara very capable jumper up to 90cm, has scope to go higher but when we jump a single fence of say 1m he always chips in a small stride before, unsettling me and him. He still jumps it just throws me out of the saddle. How do I stop him from doing that? Please help!!!!!!!

It would be best to get a good instructor to help you. Very often it is something the rider is doing that causes this to happen - especially is you tend to lean forward and/or get tense.

If you are confident of striding then you can try using a placing pole and also make sure you always have a pole on the floor right in front of the jump to give the horse a ground line.

How's the quality of the canter? Striding issues, if not physical, are often solved by getting a better canter.

Is it any type of fence? Or just certain types? If he's only doing it with uprights a ground pole might help.

I get this when the canter isn't right and he either needs to chip in or go on a long one. Best bet is to get a good instructor to help you develop the right canter - eyes on the ground are invaluable.

I've recently had this issue. With my RI have been working on developing a nice forward rhythm and bounce in the canter and this has sorted the problem
