Famous HHO's help needed for dog on death row. I have also posted this on "Dogs" and "the Club House".
He is a male white staffi - about 4 years old. He is a dog that was found and handed to Craven Dog Warden. His time is up and as some of you may know I work at a vets. He was booked in to be PTS tomorrow but I have gained a stay of execution for him for another few days. The kennel owner tells me that he is very loving and seems good with the other dogs at the kennels.
He is good on a lead and was at some time a pet as when he was found was wearing a red harness. If I can get him a forever home then I will pay for neutering and vaccinations and micro-chipping. Can anyone help please - if so then please PM me. thank you all. ( have been asked to cross post for more help )

I don't have 100% details on him - will check with the kennels tomorrow.
He seems ok with the other dogs that are in the kennels but have no knowledge on exposure to children so wouldn't like to say. He is at Moss Side Boarding Kennels, Cowling, Nr Glusburn ( BD20 ) - border of North Yorks/Lancashire.

Well done mulled wine hope he gets on ith kids but might be a bit unsure at first due to his circumstances. Staffies are great, jock of the bushveld springs to mind

Can none of the rescue places take him? How far are you from Lancaster? There's a good charity called Wolfwood who tend to take the "hard to home" dogs and have an excellent success rate.

As he is a stray I cannot vouch personally for him. Always tricky where children are concerned...but I will find out as many details as I can. Just want to try and help this lad find his forever home. Have spent the last hour and more on the phone trying to help him.

I thought stray dogs went to the rescue charities when their time's up with the warden? I know that used to be the case.

hello FionaM12.. not far from Lancaster. In fact used to live near Morecambe.
Will contact them and see what they say. Thank you.

Chap who runs it is called Stephen Wakelin, lovely man and very dedicated. It's his phone number on the site. He's very busy so you might have to try a few times. I advise to phone not email, he doesn't have time to check emails!

Thank you FionaM12... problem is that the dog warden kennels are mostly full and not all the rescues have place to take them. The local RSPCA branch do very well at taking the overflow and then rehoming but at the moment they have no space and staffi dogs are very overlooked in the rehoming centres due to people's opinions on the breed. Hoping for a happy outcome.

Omg so what happen to me last week, my friends husband works for the council & found 10 puppys,so they where taken to the kennels, all went apart from one, he was there two weeks and was being pts, I couldn't let this happen I texted the lady at 7 am saying I would ring her a 9am cut a long story short I went and picked him up after an 2 hour drive sick in my car 3 times, now my friends mum has him very lovely dog such a shame this thing happens way to much, I was only with the dog for an afternoon took him for a run round the fields, he made me cry just looking at him, I do hope this dog has an happy ending, like my smell pants dog, ( I called him that as he didnt have a name and he did stink) he is now called Alfie .

I don't wish to be rude Figgy but does your keyboard not have full stops? ;)

I read all that without taking a breath.. :D:D

This forum's good spirit never ceases to amaze me, but also veterinary practices as well. Have been involved in two 'rescues' in the last few weeks - in one case the dog was about 5 minutes from being PTS.

Well done EVERYONE who helps in any way on cases like these. I hope you get your reward, be it in this world or the next!

.what about the Staffy rescues....fab lady in Leicester called Norma Vann....might be worth a call.......

If he's cat friendly then I could take him. Got rid of my sheep yesterday so no need to worry about them any more and am looking for a companion for our Lab but HAS to be cat friendly. I am on the other side of the country though.

DESPERATE !!!

Have been on the phone till 11.00 last night and now on phone since 8am.
No luck as all rescues are full up ! Everyone is turning me away.

I can't vouch how he is with cats as I don't know him personally.

Please please help if you can...

PS . have tried Leicester and Lancaster and Bolton. Dogs trust are full up.

Sorry to be a spoilsport....but... if you don't know this dog personally, do you think it's wise to put him out on the internet like this?

( Am in no doubt questioning your motivation btw)

I would like to try and get him into a rescue if possible where he can be assessed etc and given a chance to get a happy forever home..:)
