I'm having trouble trying to find a pair of hippo sized hoof boots for my mare. Saw an ad for an online saddlers that specialises in draft tack, saying they had started to sell hoof boots.

Hurrah! Excitedly emailed to ask if they sold 8" x 8" an got the reply "we only go up to 6 1/4" x 6 1/2" so they may be a bit tight, but you could always ask your farrier to trim her feet more to make them smaller"!!!

It would appear my search continues!

Boa do a very large hoof boot & I think Cavallo do as well. The best place to ask would be the TREC UK forum - someone on there will have the definitive answer.

Cavallo do not do a big enough boot. Boa do but they have been discontinued. The makers of boa do other boots that will fit your horse. There are two big online booting companies in the UK hoof boutique I think is one off the top of my head. You can fill in a form with her measurements and they will recommend the type that will fit her best. Is that her in your profile pic, what breed is she?

Cannock Chase Equine are also stockists of a variety of hoof boots. The Saddlery Shop also has a hoof boot expert. Worth speaking to all of these by phone and asking for advice, since they have all had loads of experience helping owners to choose and fit boots (and all of them recommend something slightly different, so worth shopping around :) ). Equine Podiatry Supplies I think is another person who would be good to consult. All should come up if you Google - Cannock Chase are on Facebook.

I bought a pair of large Old Mac's from Cannock Chase Equine. Their service was very good and they were really helpful, so would recommend them as suppliers. They stock or can source a wide range of boots so might be worth a call to them. (ps ... Pony hates the boots, but that's another story and nothing to do with the supplier!!)
