This could be a very long report so sorry if it goes on forever
I will skip all the travelling parts and will glance over the sight seeing we did, and of course add photos!
Arrived in Cape town where we spent 3 nights to sight see etc. we were in a B&B near the waterfront, so we walked around and went to some local markets where we got a chance to haggle! We then also went to the V&A waterfront, where we met the Cape Town Mounted Police. They were very kind and allowed us to sit on their horses, and we got chatting and persuaded them to allow us to wear their police helmets
it was very good fun!
Some piccys:
Then we visited Boulders Bay, where the Jackass penguins live. They are very cute and we even saw a rock dassie the closest living relative to the elephant! Then our guide took us to see some seals, and the boat was very good fun! (will put some of people pics up in PG) we also met a 43 year old seal called Petey Boy, and we were able to stroke it! He was massively obese though for a seal
we then went to cape point, and saw some whales and then walked right to the end of Cape of Good Hope. It was a very very long walk in the heat +sun, and my friend wore pumps which did not last very well
then we rushed over to Table Mountain and got the last cable car of the day up the mountain it was pretty high up!
it was amazing the pics speak a thousand words.
Boulders bay + seals
Cape of good hope
Table mountain
Then we flew across to Durban where we were met by the Queensborough Pony club, who were lovely if slightly batty!
we then drove to a beach house were we spent 3 days, and we played in the humungus waves!!
On the Sunday we went and tried horses out for the competition, and it was very kind for the owners to lend their horses to us for the competition!
That was at a xc course, and was our first time riding them! The chestnut was the horse I was meant to be riding, but after another horses owner was making us lot sign agreements so my friend got the chestnut and I got the bay mare
Then we went to a water park called Ushaka, which is huge and has its own aquarium inside! We went around the aquarium first I think these fish are amazing this rock is actually a fish!
and this one was MASSIVE
Then we went to the showgrounds, and dressage was the first event on the wed. I wasnt in the team for this as no one expected me to do well I believed them this is her going into the dressage.
but I managed to get her to do this for most of the test by being very very tactful!
I got 51% which I was incredibly pleased with!! The team came 3rd overall. Then the equtation, which I thought was very big for my mare as she couldnt jump over 90cm, and the course was 90cm!! but I got her to trust me as she had no confidence what so ever jumping, so it required a lot of leg and encouragement! But I came 4th in the class which I was amazed by, and they said I rode very well!
My friend on the chestnut came 1st, and another girl with us came 3rd. overall our team came 2nd! So we were very pleased. Especially as the others were all on their own horses!
Then the team jumping, which the junior team came 2nd and our team won it, and I managed to only have one down out of two rounds. In the jump off she jumped the last fence very very oddly so much so I fell off! But I clung on long enough till I had crossed the finish line!
so it didnt count
We then had an irish gala and parade, and then we all rested our horses and got ready for the xc.
This is all of us:
I took photos of mostly every fence! But I will put them up in PG as I have a lot of photos already here!
by the end my mare was going really well, apart from me falling off again as she had a nasty stop where she took off and then put her feet back down again.
.
Our team finished 2nd, so we were very pleased! Lol sorry for the long report!
We also went to a safari park, but that will go in the PG! cookies for all who comment!
so all in all, a very successful trip!
