Have just looked at web site for the equine fair and the tickets are £12 per person. This is a nice fair but not great you can go to Badminton or Burghley for about that price and get a lot more shopping. So will have to find something else to do that weekend

Agree a bit pricey OP BUT you do get quite a lot of demo's as well...... I think one has to decide though, if going, whether its the shopping experience OR the demo's you're going for as its almost impossible IME to do both!

I shall probably pay up and look sweet (and grouse about the price!). Although I did feel last year that some of the stallholders were a bit "samey" and there doesn't seem to be much difference year after year. Also, whilst appreciating that stallholders have to pay a huge price to hire a pitch, personally I thought stuff was pretty expensive, but do understand that they are charged a huge whack for being there.

Its nice to see new stuff coming onto the market; and to be able to talk to feed manufacters etc though.

So is anyone else going???

I agree it's expensive but we don't get many horsey events down here in Cornwall so i'm not missing it!

Very true, I go for the demos did anyone see Chariots of Fire a couple of years ago, thought they were great:)

Yep, will be there again this year. Agree that it does seem to get a bit 'samey' year on year but think that £12 isn't that bad a price if you take into account the demos etc.

Fingers crossed I won a couple of tickets while at a lecture at Langford last night :D

Would you say its busy/lots of visitors? We've never done that show with the tradestand but was thinking we might do it next year. We do YHL and wondered if its similar?

Thanks, any info appreciated :)

deffinatly busy, ive not been yet where your not moving in a human squished converyer belt!

i think alot of people look rather than buy as others have said its not really a place for bargins.

I thought the demo's were good last year, but the stands were expensive, although I got a nice pair of jods for £12; no mean feat when you are a 6 foot bloke with a 34 waist.

The year before, I got some mega bargain XC gloves, saw a brilliant demo with Tim Stockdale (get well soon Tim) and nearly knocked Mary King over

We'll be going this year...as you never know, there may be some real bargains there

Oh and the sample bags of feed keep us going for a few weeks :D

There are so few equine events in this area, so the Equine Fair is something to look forward to. They have some big names there and the demos are excellent.

I always go on the Saturday because I think it will be quieter than Sunday, but Saturdays are heaving, it's quite difficult to get around in there, lots of bargain hunters. There's always a very diverse selection of tradestands, the saddlery and rug stands are always full, others less so.

Yes it's busy as they really pack the stands into the main hall which leaves the 'alleys' too narrow for the flow of people and people stopping to look at stands.

Am aiming to get there early when the doors open and hope that I can see / do what I want before it gets too busy.

If you look hard enough you can find bargins. I too got some 'branded' leather palmed gloves 2 years ago and bought 2 pairs, also bought a Bently grooming bag with all the brushes and Lynn Russell products for £30 which I thought was pretty good value (one bottle of LR main / tail costs circa £9).

The rug stand seems to offer good bargins but I shyed away from the saddle (south west saddles??) after hearing the lady on the stand telling a potential customer that they / you don't fit the saddle to the horse you fit to the rider (OK, I know that some treeless saddles you fit more to the rider but not for treed which was what she was talking about ).

There was a stand there last year selling cheese and another selling home made chutneys etc - great for Grandma's christmas pressie :D

there are so few events like this in our region that I feel we should support it.
