Southall Horse Sales - RIP or Good Riddance?

Just read on the H&H web site that Southall sales will no longer be operating. Having been once, I can't say I'm sorry to hear this - it reduced me to tears of fury. What do others think?

Definitely GOOD RIDDANCE!!! My dad used to work in the Police Station opposite when he was in the force and the stories he could tell............. Glad its gone!!

That dodgy Irish Dealer in Dartford won't know where to get all his horses from now!

Nor will one or two of the local riding schools!

Went there regularly for 2 years. Saw some rough treatment ie ponies being bundled in and out of trailers and foals and heavily pregnant mares hanging about all day but no blatent cruelty..
A friend has been going there every Wed since he was 10. He's now almost 90. It'll be sad for him..
In all the horses he bought from there in the time I've known him ( approx 10yrs) I've only known of 2 that were dodgy. All the rest, he bought home, spent some time on and sold to appropriate homes.
My black mare comes from there..

As far as I'm aware, the dodgy stuff went on in the car park ie geldings

GOOD glad it's gone!
Used to go 25 years ago and wasnt too bad, even bought one or two from there but went recently for a look and it was disgusting

Definately good riddance. Not first hand experience but reports from my sister-in-law who used to work round there.
