Southampton people

I am outskirts of eastleigh, fab hacking, flood lit grass school, out 24/7 and theyre hayed in winter so its 85 in winter and 60 in summer

and i belive its an extra £10 a week for a stable.

I was in Soouthampton until recently.

DIY livery starts at about £20 a week, for real basic stable and turnout, and goes up from there. It depend how close to the forest you get too.

Hay has been really expensive down here this year.

Hacking is generally fab, especially if you can find a yard on the edge of the forest.

However, I think the biggest problem would be finding vacancies. Have a look on NFED classifieds to get an idea.

I live in Southampton but the horses are kept inthe New Forest area. For me DIY £35 pw but can be a lot less on some of the smaller private yards. Large bale haylage about £35 large bale hay £35 - £40 small hay bales £6. Shavings currently £6.75 not sure about straw. Everything seems to have increased in price this winter but I guess thats not just here.

I'm just north east of Southampton. Around here DIY livery is £25/week+. anywhere half decent seems £30/week.

depends what your priorities are because if you want good facilities, hacking, turnout (BIG issue) etc etc it's like a needle in a haystack!

Hay is £8/bale+

Farrier £65/set +

I pay £25p/w, that is for stable and grazing. The owner also feeds, changes rugs and turns out, which is included in the price. We have a horse walker and school and free trailer parking.

I pay £32.50 (strange amount I know) for a large bale of haylage and £2.50 for a small bale of straw. Ive been looking around and most average at around £20-30 p/w for diy

I am at Shedfield Equestrian (close to Wickham) on DIY but it offers all services and has vacancies if you are still looking!

I pay £25 per week diy- stable and grazing only. Nice grazing with good fencing out every day but do have to stay in overnight during the summer too (which is not as bad as it sounds and have new YM who is hoping to get 24/7 over the summer.

Nice sand school with floodlights and jumping field in the summer. Hacking is not brilliant but close-ish to the old railway line and there is riding on the common so some offroad but the yard is on a fairly busy road but most people hack out no problems.

Lots of different stables/ yards on the site to choose form and a real mix of people on horses. farrier on site and tack/ fee shop. Main downside is you have to but all feed, bedding and hay from the shop but on the upside its on your pallet every Monday morning!
