As above have a super new website.

Part of the Cleveland Bay Horse Society, the enthusiasts in south of UK, have a dynamic website managed by John Green and dedicated to the promotion of the Cleveland Bay.

Click on www.southernclevelandbayclub.co.uk to see photos of Great Yorkshire Show and The Royal both on slide show. Some stunning examples of both pure-bred CBs and see what happens when you cross with a TB!!

Some very nice pictures of Natterjack Toad at the Royal and in the magazine section the history of his breeding, by John Parker's Hungarian TB out of a CB mare.

At the Yorkshire Show, Champion in Youngstock Hunter Class and overall Reserve Champion for the Hunter Classes Championship, was Bottom Grove Bazal by a TB stallion out of a CB mare. His story in the magazine section.

Buckeroo is on there too!

But not doing this:

Yes that is his idea of how to behave at the Royal, was amazingly placed 8th and the judge told me we would have been much higher if not for his antics!

My sister-in-law showed a CB at the Suffolk Show this year and was asked to leave the ring he was so badly behaved. She was mortified.

Well Acorn - Mulgrave Royal-Stainmore Teazle went to her first show with us as a three year old. We were all beginners together and it was a very busy show.

She was angelic, in spite of the fact that two of the entrants spent the whole class rearing, bucking and attempting to kick each other their handlers and anyone else within range. THEY were not asked to leave the ring and the judge said afterwards that Acorn had a lovely temperament, which she does.

Love the photos of the Yorkshire Show - we have the full brother of the Champion Pure Bred - Kirkmoor Primrose Flower he is still owned by Heather Ketley but we have backed him and are looking forward to competing him over the next few months now the stud season is over (he is a stallion and a very handsome boy)

Latest news, Folds Veronica champion rarebreed at New Forest show. See her photos on the SCBC website Royal show and Folds show. Look out for the Club trailer/stand at Equifest Peterborough. Come and have a chat - we're very friendly.
Also see Botton Grove Bazel p40 H&H.

Reticent as I am to comment, there may be some very nice pictures of Natterjack Toad, who is a lovely horse and very deserving of his successes, but at last a pure bred Cleveland Bay took the ridden at the Royal and it was Lincoln University's Lindon Principal who finally was placed above Toad. He has now done as much as we could have asked of him; he was unlikely to take the Supreme above a riding horse, but at least there was a CB in the line up. For all you CB enthusiasts (ok, we're in a minority, I know) let's keep plugging away. We did bugger all at the Great Yorkshire!

YAY a CB thread!!

Hehehe I should join the Southern Cleveland Bay Club - cos well, Im from 'south' of you guys - probably a bit too south though! lol..........

Nice acrobatics in the pic above there! lol little bugger!!!

Moon Dust is just gorgeous too!!!

Ours are all hairy and in their winter woolies at the moment!! And waiting to drop foals!

Nice to get a post from 'down under' don't forget to post your foal pics on the forum. It is a quiet time in the Northern Hemisphere.

Big problem with Cleveland support and why we are in a minority - there are few people selling riding Clevelands ! I took 4 years to find my riding purebred mare and I'm in the Society ! Let's get bums on seats and start breaking and schooling our big bays instead of just breeding and offloading unbroken colts without giving them a chance to prove what sensible beasties they are !

We are finding here in Australia that Cleveland Bay Sporthorses under saddle are VERY hard to come by - because people tend to sell them as weanlings/yearlings, and then those who buy them wont part with them for love nor money! lol......... They get too attached!!

Also, any ridden horse either doesnt make it to being advertised as the owner only has to whisper about selling and the horse is snapped up, or gets advertised and sold very quickly!

People are really starting to appreciate how wonderful these horses really are which is fantastic!!!

We personally would LOVE to keep a couple of youngsters and get them to the breaking in age and start them, do a bit of basic education and have something so that when people ask us for going horses we could say 'yep heres one' - but they dont last in the paddock that long! lol........

As for Purebreds in Australia and NZ - anyone who has a purebred keeps it, or it goes to another breeder - they are very rarely advertised on the open market..... We have so few in this hemisphere at the moment - but there are plans afoot to change that!!!
