Hiya all sorry to ask a question thats been asked million times !

I want some feed to mix supps and vits in bt my pony isnt worked yet (will start schooling in spring)!

Shes welsh sec b so as u can imagine is always fat lol !

I was using fast fibre bt she was a jumpy twitching nervous wreck so have stopped and now she just has small carrot and some apple

When she starts working I would love to give her a couple handfuls of feed bt im well weary of sugar beet now i spoke to someone whos studied and they said the soaked feed is really good at delivering energy hence the bouncing pony lol ! Well shes so forward going i dont want her bouncing at all !

Ive used pony cubes in past with other pony and they wer fab bt im jus
Bit weary cz iv noticed they add things to them and im awfully suspicious of things like soya all my family are allergic to it and i cant see how something so allergenic wud be in horse feed so wondering if thers anything really plain and JUST fibre

Oh and she wudnt eat chaff wen i tried !

I am also looking for soya free and molasses free feeds for our very lively chestnut mare. I might try her on readi grass as all other feeds seem to contain one or the other.

I really rate Safe & Sound by Dodson & Horrell. It is a chaff feed - but everything I know that has tried a bit has loved it, however fussy. It is grass/straw chaff, with nuts/nuggets and herbs for flavouring, and is a complete feed aimed at laminitics/good doers.

My lad can't have alfalfa or soya and it took a bit of searching to find something...but love this stuff. Halleys feeds do a Timothy Hay chop which I also quite like. The S&S is lightly molassed, but % of sugar/starch still very low, and haven't had anything fizz up on it. I've only phased it out as I'm using a complete supplement now (Pro Hoof), and didn't want to double up on vits/mins.

Most things seem to have at least one of alfalfa/soya/molasses unfortunately, so you may have to contact feed companies direct to ask what they make that would be suitable, and possibly compromise depending on what you can get hold of in your area...

Also, have a look at Simple System feeds - all are soya and molasses free. I can highly recommend them with all of mine on them ranging from good doers to one that is more difficult to keep the weight on. :)

Fab thanku will look again at simple systems i gtta admit they my kinda people cz they say exactly whats in the bag no messing about lol !
