What benefits does the horse get from being fed Soya oil and at what quantities?

And are there any disadvantages?

Micronised linseed meal would be my choice, just think soya oil is by feed companies is selected for its price and other qualities, but linseed is a traditional feed for horses, and is less processed, also adds fibre.

This would be my choice Linseed, if you want to feed oil I'd use corn oil rather than soya.

Can you explain why please PR.

I have posted in NL recently about soya but had no really helpful responses. I've been reading lots of negative reports about it due to inflammatory responses and the way it works on the pancreas eventually causing metabolic problems but I'm not sure if it's scaremongering as there are a lot of conflicting reports out there.

I understand about omegas & anti/pro inflammatory but I'm trying to find out whether soya really is the bad boy it's being portrayed as I do include it in my horses' diets.

argh, I do not want the vet to advise me on feeding, I ask them to heal my horse.

Well since you do not know the reason why my horse was put on soya oil as I said above for my horses condition (as in medical condition). I fail to see how your comment is relevant in her case.

The soya oil was prescribed for her for a reason.

Well, it depends what you are feeding it for, if you are after the Omega 6 then corn oil is higher than soya
However, if you are after Omega 3 then linseed.

Soya is also a legume and through genetic engineering cheaper than corn oil, which is a cereal. (this also has some degree of genetic engineering, but not as much as soya). So it depends what you are feeding for, but, more important to maintain the correct ratio of 3 to 6.
