Is there a condition that spaniels are prone to that can cause a stiffness through the loins and back legs?

I’ve have three Spaniels. Not seen this. My Manchester terrier had it though. Spondylitis? Treated as arthritis really pain killers but that was back in the 90’s. He died young with kidney disease at 11. Think he’d been interbred. Very pretty but not bright!

Cruciate issues are very common in spanners. Is it an older dog? Arthritis?

No, he’s 5. Presented with a reluctance to move and depressed. Vets were concerned about meningitis, no evidence of cruciate damage. Anti-inflammatories given and dog is a little improved, but not much.

When my friends spaniel was misdiagnosed cruciate it turned out to be disc disease and sciatica. Physio and appropriate exercise he’s 12 this year. Was diagnosed at around five. Is in gabapentin now. Also joint supplements.
