Does anybody use Rex Specs to protect their working dogs eyes? Do they stand up to bramble?

Bit of a back story. We have 3 spaniels, Working Cockers and a Springer. They live inside, go for walks, enjoy being at the yard but they work picking up a couple of times a week throughout the season.

Two of them have had emergency surgery for thorns in their eyes, the most recent being January this year costing £4,000 and luckily she kept her eye with no loss of vision. Asides that they're regularly scratching/puncturing their eyes while working, leading to infections and the need for several eye drops and ophthalmologist appointments. All 3 have come close to loosing a eye.

My Springer worked superbly the weekend just gone, picked some great birds but scratched one of his eyes which led to a eye infection the next day and the need for another range of eye drops. Its already looking a lot better.

I've done a lot of research on Rex Specs, know several people who use them beating or picking up and rate them. I bought a pair and thought I'd give it a try. I genuinely don't know what other choice I have, unless I stop working them.. the ground on both shoots we attend is very thick cover with a lot of bramble.

No one else on the shoots get issue with their spaniels and eyes.. baffles me!

I have a springer and we don't shoot but we do live on a farm and he runs everywhere. He hasn't had anything really nasty but does need steroid eyedrops every summer, I think the grass seeds irritate his eyes. I bought him a set of goggles last year, he just removed them. They were only cheap ones from amazon, so better ones might stay on, so maybe you'll have more luck!

Only seen them at the vet with a spaniel who liked to stick his head out of the window (not there for his eyes). I think it’s a very sensible idea if they’re working thorny terrain.
