Hello All!

I am hoping to enter my Hispano Arabe into a show next week and it's years since we did any classes specifically aimed at Spanish Horses...

I am entering a Ridden Class and an in-hand one. I don't have full Spanish Costume so I am wearing English Tack and Turnout for Ridden Class. Do I do running plait? Boy has long mane. For In Hand am I ok to wear same clothes and English Bridle for In Hand or Serreta and loose the jacket....and do I keep the plaits? No fancy browband on Serreta but I could make one by next weekend  probably!

This is what happens when you get older...........brain fuzzy :p :o

Thank you! :D

Hello Hetsmum :)

I have shown my PRE gelding for the last 3 years and just got a new stallion so starting to take him out (first time this weekend eeek!) too.

In answer to your questions:

You can either turn out in english dress or spanish. If english dress (it is a navy or black show jacket not tweed), then cream/white jods and stock as normal. Same as dressage turnout basically.

In the in hand ALWAYS have the mane loose not in a plait. But for ridden classes always plait the mane (in running plait if you can). Tail loose.

In hand yes same clothes for you as ridden. The horse should be in halter with chain at the back or serreta (only if needed). Although my boy I have in a halter but instead of chain at the back I have put a leather rounding, as he is very sensitive and wouldnt like a chain. Look at my pictures will help.

You don't have to have fancy spanish browband (the trick is to use them if the horse doesnt have a 'good' head ;))

Think that was everything?

Hope that's helped!

But as Tallyho suggested do add their facebook page, we all post on there all the time :D

Think that was all your questions?

Picture of my gelding, so you can see his show halter (many use chains instead, I don't as said he would not move in one and has never stopped him winning):

Picture of my stallion, he will be in a black serreta (he needs it!) but show rope is spanish yellow/black (not purple this is just my day lunging one and I was having a practice at home LOL!) or you can use white (or black I have also seen!). I will be taking the ribbon off as he has a very good head (my geldings head is too small by breed standard to I keep his on ;)):
