Hi everyone,

I have had a request from the very lovely Kate Fox to put some pics up of my tribe but thought that i'd better explain a little about us first.

We have started a program to introduce the spanish Normanto the UK, the breed is already established in the states and is makeing a super all round sports horse. Being one for a challenge and none so good at following the crowd we decided (Amanda Tomlinson and i) to see if we could get the breed established over here.

To date between us we have bred so far just four fillies and two colts Amanda is waiting on the birth of another foal. Of the horses bred only on e has been sold, he lives in wiltshire with his mum Karen and is to be produced at home for the show ring under the guideance of Cindy Simms in the hope that one day he will make a top class heavy weight hunter.

Any way enough about us these are just a few pics of the clan........

Theo, Karens boy.

I will stop there as have loads of pics and this thread would be at risk of being very long but hopefuly will give you an idea of what we're breeding.

The Spanish Norman is created by breeding an Andalusian stallion onto a Percheron mare. They have to be a minimum of 50% Andalusian blood but can be less percheron.

I to will be at the breed show, Samara is by Damasco Amandas stallion. She hasn't seen her for a good while as last time she came to visit we ran out of time. So wonder what she will make of her.

We also have a stallion of ours that were taking to, Holgado II.

Your's all look very lovely with a nice amount of bone.

My OH had a Percheron x American Saddler out in South Africa. She was nice.

OOooo lovely!! I've always fancied a Shire x Andalucian - absolutely no idea why, as I've never seen one. I guess no one has been crazy enough to breed one LOL! Fabulous bone on yours and for a bigger horse, they seem quite elegant.

Au contrair _SN_, there is a stud (Brecknock) who breed just that, they compete in driving trials and also dressage I believe

Thanks for posting these photos - I love your Spanish Normans and I was sure people here would like to see them!

And your Percheron mares are splendid - any pics of them? I'm sure I remember a super photo of one of them under saddle, looking like a magnificent war-horse!

P.S. The cross I especially like, as you might expect, is the Arab x Percheron - this is called a 'Desert Norman' and I've seen a few really stunning examples!

Oh Kate you are being really naughty now, lol. I promise that in the next couple of years we will have a desert norman baby, promise. xxx

The pic your speaking of belongs to Richard Maxwell and the mare in question and my filly can be seen in his new book next month.......

No not Norfolk, we have done Newark and Notts, Derby county and Market Bosworth so far. Still to go are the Andalusian breedshow, Futuriy evaluations and the hunter champs at Addington.

BUt yes we can now plait in!!!!!

She's also grown some what since then to and is looking amazing. (biast opinion of cause)

She did stand out a bit there, we had hoped that her mane would have grown back enough to plait her but alass!!!! We did however have a lovely day, and theres always next year.
