Has anyone been before?

I've just booked a last minute trip to Vienna (Christmas markets!) for next weekend, and have booked a performance at the Spanish Riding School on the Sunday morning.

Can you also wander round some of the stables, or is it all behind 'closed doors'? I saw they had a visitor centre but wasn't sure how much access that allowed.

The morning training is a brilliant way to glimpse the horsemanship behind the showmanship.

My mother and I went last winter, and then it was possible to book a 'tour' around the Riding School with a knowledgeable guide who also took us through the stables.

Hope you have a great trip!

I know I'm not answering your question but I went to Vienna last summer and loved it! Check out the area around the bottom of the Wahringer StraBe - really studenty, cheap and relaxed - and the Stadtpark. Also one of the best meals of my life was the taiwanese Vegetasia - 9 euros all you can eat on Sundays. Have a great time!
