Spanish Walk?

Now, I am certainly not interested in teaching this to my horse - we have difficulty remaining relaxed doing collected walk - the thought of canter transitions coming up make for a highly exciting prospect and is all we think about whilst walking!!!!! So I am not interested in how you teach this but would like to know what, in your opinion are the benefits??

Benefits are - for horses that can be stuffy in their shoulders it can teach them to use and swing through all of their muscles in that area - however, it is something that, taught incorrectly or to horses that have no natural aptitude for it, can cause less swing in movements such as walk on a long rein

If I were going to show off with PF, I'd dress her in lots of pink....

Failing that, I'd LOVE to be able to do passage, piaffe and tempi changes *sigh* maybe one day!

- I'm sure you understand my dilemma!!

Like Weezy, I know how to teach this however I also view this movement with a bit of disdain. So many people are not nearly patient enough to make this a pleasurable experience for the horse and become obsessed with it.

hmm. As mine anticipates so much in the walk I certainly wouldn't "mess" with it, we have no probs about coming through the shoulder usually get 8 or 9 anyway so no point!!!

Now I am just showing off but mine can tempi change (only every three at the moment) and piaffe!
Just passage to master - prob next year though!!!!!!!!

why all the bad feeling about this? mine got taught it in hand to keep him interested in his work along with some lateral movements and rein back, much better for him to learn some movements as a game in hand than trot round endless circles on the lunge as an immature two year old colt! surely its better to ask for some expert advice on how this movement is taught than to go and try it with no experiance. Anyway she didn't say she wanted to teach it to her horse, just that she was intersested in the principles of the movement and the training methods.

I dont know what you are on about, I wouldnt want to do this with my horse anyway!!!!!!! I said this already! I ONLY wanted to know through interest! Thankyou to all those who give me some knowlegde! sometimes its jjust nice to know how somebody else does it!
