The other post in CR re competition turnout got me thinking about this.

Does your horse/pony have many whiskers?

I was just thinking about the different horses on our yard, some have more than others and well my Mack doesnt really have any...which is a bit strange, but big ginger lad has quite long ones.

Nobody bothers trimming them off at our yard, well those that I ride with don't, but some have them, some dont really have any.

Is it more of breed thing do you think, do some horses produce more whiskers than others?

Both mine have quite a lot of whiskers but the hairs are pretty fine and I do find that in summer they get pretty short, probably from stuffing their faces with grass all day long, I also don't trim at all as just seems bit unfair, personally I think whiskers are there for a reason
