How many of you have a special bond with your horse? I know some people just dont seem to click with their horse...Today I spent the day at the yard just having fun with my boy we did a bit of everything, spent ages grooming him and just spending time with him, I feel we really have a special bond, ive now had him since last august and ive noticed he acts different with me than anyone else. hes always nuzzling and nudging me, and watching everything i do...I shouted him and he came straight to me in the field.. anyway i really enjoyed out ride today here we are...
(ignore my concentration face, its only the 3rd time we have jumped) :D

Awwww :)

Me too! He has to give me a kiss every evening and morning to say hello, and have his special scratchy spot itched just behind his ear. If not, he will have a complete ab-dab and actually pine. The sensitive sod lol. I've not seen him all this weekend...I'm doomed when I see him tomorrow!

I believe that you either click with a horse or you don't, me and my pony bonded right away and we never looked back! He follows me EVERYWHERE, he is like a dog!! This is a picture of us the day I got him, I think that he was feeling rather grateful haha! Although I broke him in myself and I think that helps a lot to build trust, he physically will not let anyone else but me ride him! Cheeky pony!!

Lovely pictures! I believe the word "special" gets trotted out a little too much. And sometimes people get so caught up in catch words that they lose sight of a bit of reality. Not saying this is the case with any of these posts just putting it out there.

I see horses walking all over their owners because they try so hard for a special bond. I have 5 and all are poles apart. Yet I know instantly when something is amiss in the way they are towards me. Just because you don't have a lovey dovey horse doesn't mean their isn't a bond. Doesn't mean they don't try for you 100% when needed. I try to be the same with each yet give them the individual things they like and look forward to.

I personally want my horses to be able to get along with anyone who knows what they're doing. That means I've done a good job raising them.

Quite agree.. My horses are impeccably behaved most of the time with anybody that comes into contact with them, which is how it should be..

The top pic is my big Cleveland Bay lad.. Everyone that's met him all say he only has eyes for me over everyone else.. Watches where i am at all times and lights up, whatever that means :/

He is definitely not lovey dovey though and never has been but he trusts me implicitly and will do anything I ask and will actively look to me when terrified or angry ie with vet or scary hacking etc..

He's particular about who he does and doesn't have time for.. Owned by me since just turning 4, backed by me and he's now 12..

He is a very aloof horse but despite being mostly only looked after and worked with by me (and mostly sole let places) he will do what he is asked by anyone else who needs to look after him in my absence.. Even my OH who has never been round horses can safely and confidently work with them by himself..

I have to say he tried to run rings round my instructor regularly though.. He taught her a few new tricks too.. She is very fond of him..

He's very much a Cleveland Bay, if you know what I mean :D

I think we did alright :)
