speechless!

well lets hope he actually wants to learn and will care for this horse.

My horse came from someone like this, I had to have his back done because of a badly fitting saddle, he had leg problems and a pelvis alignment problem because the guy just galloped everywhere even if horse was lame. He never wanted help, didnt give a sh!t and just wanted it to show off

fingers crossed

whilst of course its his own business what he does (everyone knows its an idotic thing to do) if hes on a yard there is bound to be other people keeping an eye on the welfare of the horse,,,, what really gets me with this is,, it wont be him who suffers it will be someone else,, for example,, the horse is over fed and sharp and because of his stupidity the horse will escape from him and either kick someone elses horse or run someone over or worse!!!! In the wrong hands these huge animals can cause serious harm to others and themselves! IN the hands of a clown they WILL cause harm to themselves and others!!!how I wish people would think how their actions affect others too

Exactly - and please don't take what I said about the yard personally. What I actually meant ( put really badly sorry)
was that the horse is on a DIY yard and he knows not a lot and that people would not want to get involved. He needed to go on at least part livery so someone who knows what they are doing could do the horse.

Is that ok or am I digging a bigger hole?

Gosh, glad I am not at your yard! My horse is my first, and whilst I did loan for a while, I am still pretty much a novice. I have alot of people help me out and have made some great friends.

In fact, I did my first jumping clinic today, all my friends were there to support me and although I was nervous and didn't really do a great job, they were all incredibly encouraging and pleased for me.

Oh, and this morning I put my martingale on completely wrong and hacked out in it. At the end of the day, I have had him a year and he is not dead yet.

I wish him luck and hope that he listens to advice from people who genuinely want him to enjoy his horse, that's what it is all about.

The welfare of the horse isn't an issue, he is getting very well looked after and has several people helping him out. The issue with me is the dealer selling such a horse to complete novices.
When I got my first pony I was 12 and had been having riding lessons for 6 months, I couldn't even put a bridle on when I first got him and had only cantered 3 times. However I read loads of books and learnt from people at my yard.
This guy already has 3 people helping him, and would probably get confused if anyone else told him what to do, however if he came and asked me something I would help him (and have done)

Like I say I have a big issue with the bloody dealer that sold them this horse, it's not suitable and it's very lame and probably will never come sound, they've never even ridden him, I do actually feel really sorry for them.

We all need to learn and you never stop learning with horses. But people like these do make me really really angry. Im afraid i dont feel sorry for them at all. Its as if they got up one day and thought i know im going to buy a horse today without thinking about the welfare of the horse or their safety! Its just plain stupid.

If they had gone about it the right way, ie had some lessons, gone with their instructor to view the horse, try it properly and got a suitable horse then it would be different completely. but the fact is they brought a horse that is completely unsuitable whether it s sound or not. if they had ridden it and tried it out properly with someone knowledgeable then it would have been obvious to anyone that looks at horses everyday that it is lame, its back feet are [****] and it wouldnt pass a vetting of any kind. The dealer should be shot for selling any horse to people like this! Poor horse i feel really really sorry for it. They really dont have a clue they dont even know the basics and it is dangerous and a recipe for disaster.

There should be a basic horsemanship test to take before being allowed to own a horse. I really worry that these people will get hurt, its a 17hh 5 year old for christ sake not some placid nice natured cob! Its really sad :-( Lets hope they send it back, get some lessons and then get something more suitable at a later date. thats not going to happen though is it......

As a novice rider, I could not agree with you more.

I posted earlier in this thread that the people who put money before the welfare of either the horse or rider are the ones that make my blood boil.

correct me if im wrong but were you not drinking tea in my living room praising how "nice" the yard is? i feel your comment is unfair and uncalled for and in future would appreciate it if you have any issues concerning my yard that you come to me rather than posting it on the internet.
