Well, picked Spencer up (again!) from the vets today and he's very, very obviously on the mend. I can't believe it, when you consider he was just a few hours from death. Their standard treatment wasn't working coz apparently his bladder and entire urinary sytem was so traumatised from the blockage (he was in total renal failure) and the surgical procedure necessary to UNblock it, that it was too painful for him to pee so he tried to hold it all in. But with the bladder sphincter so traumatised too, he couldn't even do that so was leaking wee all the time, as well as having a blocked bladder for the 2nd time in 4 days and being in terrible pain. Poor little man.
So, Plan B for the vets, in cats where Plan A doesn't work, with the ACP (!!!!) was started and all the right muscles relaxed and Spencer promptly pees a vast lake and with anti inflammatories and enough painkillers to stop an African elephant, he starts to feel a whole heap better! He's eating a teeny bit too and I bought an extra strength catnip mouse for him like someone suggested and he's been rolling round with it like a kitten! Brill idea! Then he climbed onto his fave bit of window sill - where the late sun warms his front half and the radiator warms his back half - and crashed out for 5 hours! He's still on weekly ACP injections and the vets have ordered in a special tablet that will keep his muscles relaxed for a couple more weeks so we don't end up back to square one again straight away. Bill so far pushing £750 but who cares. Have also ordered the dry cat food with cranberries in but they tried to flipping deliver it while I was in the vets! Grrrr @$£&***#+@" !!!
