It was his 5th Birthday today, & he got to go to a party!
He's been XC schooling once & this was his first competition. We went to Ely (Little Downham) to do the clear round followed by the novice. The course was a bit more daunting than I'd hoped
The first fence was barrells, 2nd tyres, then the 3rd was an imposing bright blue wall
, followed by an interspace and a feeder. After that it was very straight forward, although there were 2 fences made of bright blue tubes.
He warmed up well, although he got a bit stressed with everyone cantering round him!!
We set off in trot with him looking around everywhere. He jumped the first 2 fences, but then when we got to the blue wall he hadn't quite got going and it took him a bit by suprise!
He jumped it very big at the second go, landed in canter & we were off!! He jumped everything else as though he'd been doing it for years.
We then did the class..... he came out of the start in canter and flew everything. I was sooooo pleased with him. When the results went up he was 15 seconds too fast & had come 6th.
I can't wait for the next one now
