Spiller's Balancers

Ive tried numerous foods with my very fussy horse as I really struggle to keep weight on him. Ive tried blue chip (stopped eating it and didnt seem to be making any difference) and winergy equilibrium. Ive recently put him on spillers conditioning mix and the spillers performance balancer. Hes put weight on, looks really good at the mo and is going really well. Plus he seems to be eating it really well. I really rate it!

I tried the spillers senior balancer with Ted and he looked fantastic on it, his coat was really shiny and he looked very healthy.

However, after eating it for a couple of months or so he refused to eat it unless it was mixed in with a huge amount of sugar beet or pony nuts , so decided it actually wasn't very economical as he would only eat it with a lot of other feeds, which ended up costing a fortune! He would also try to pick out or leave the bits of feed where the balancer wasn't completely mixed in!

Well since Spillers were actually the ones making Bluechip and the reason why they didn't sell balancers up until now (they have seperated from Bluechip), I would think they are good. I swopped from Lo Cal to their Lite one and my horse loves it, it smells really nice and is cheaper than the LoCal.

I was thinking along these lines but wanted to double check with others :)

I think something in it (their lo-calorie version) made my Sweet Itch mare and normal gelding really itchy. Obviously I cannot swear this 100%, but it was the only thing different about the feed, and got progressively worse (more itchy) as the sack went down... At first I just thought it was the time of year, but when she was still scratching herself silly (worse than ever before) in early November, I began to suspect there could be a link. The gelding has never scratched anything before in the 4 years we've had him, and started having a lovely time rubbing his tail. Now back on Bailey's Lo-Cal and both are back to normal.

Like I say I can't be 100% sure it was the balancer, but...
