I'm looking to put lord on spillers conditioning cubes / mix as he is starting to look a little ropey and lacking topline (possibly another growth spurt coming

) He isn't doing a lot of work due to time / light / bog for school but he is getting worked 3/4 times a week including hacking in company and schooling (no longer than 30 mins as school is atrotious

)

Just wondering if the spillers stuff tends to heat horses up as Lordie is a very sensitive soul and is spooky at the best of times.

Many thanks guys

I know I harp on about it but try show mix .... lots of oil etc for building up but not alot of cereal - great for keeping weight on!

Do you reckon it would be safe to give a little to a laminitic? My girl is still a bit ribby despite getting a fair bit of feed and ad lib hay...

I like conditioning cubes..however i refuse tp pay their prices and buy our feed merchants own topline cubes,work just as well

and hell of a lot cheaper!

Personally i wouldnt use it for a lammi,as they do what they say on the bag

Could you not give her a balancer of some sort that would help her get the best from the feed she is getting atm?
Or oil?however not sure how oil affects lammis?someone on here could probably advise better with that!

She is on pink powder too! I will be patient then, she is slowly improving! Thanks.

If you can see improvement then what you are doing is working

,just make sure she is kept warm and not having to use what she is eating to keep warm,it is very difficult in the winter when you need to build something up a little,but better slow and steady with a lammi!

and he can be quite spooky etc but it hasnt sent him wild at all

Hi on your thin lammi, Try using something like alfa-oil instead of conditioning cubes along with your pink powder should do the trick. Speedibeet or other unmolassed sugar beet is somethin else you can use to put condition on the lammi prone.

I do like the cubes - my TB when dropping weight did very well when swapped to them, as did my mental WB. If Stinky drops weight/topline when out doing a lot of travelling and showing, I will "top him up" with 1 - 2 bags over six weeks of Spillars conditioning cubes together with a bag of Equilbra 500. He then goes back to his normal high fibre, low cal diet.

This combination works really well on him, helps the muscle and topline come back but not adding lots of fat.
