Does anyone use spillers horse and pony cubes? Or any good feed that is non heating for a cob in light work who can get a bit fizzy and excitable? Thanks

I did use their HDF (High Digestible Fibre) cubes an a hot mare eventing. They were FAB. Sadly current horse does not like just nuts, and is on Pure Easy, which looks like chop and nuts mixed up. Also FAB, but more expensive and has to be delivered by Royal Mail as no local supplier.

I would urge you to try to find the composition for any nut / mix you feed. Spillers don't appear to put their ingredients on their website, you may have to seek out a bag and check on there. There are a lot of cheap (wheatfeed, husks etc.) which bulk up the feeds. I would recommend either an unmolassed sugarbeet, lucerne / alfalfa nuts or grass pellets depending on his requirements, along with a balancer. That way you know what you're feeding.

I feed them, they're a basic feed.

I much prefer the idea of Simple system feeds, but said horse didn't like them, and they're quite faffy with the soaking etc.
