Spillers new balancers

It's about time someone gave topspec and blue chip a run for the money - these spillers ones are very reasonable and high spec even without the £5 off!!

I've just started feeding mine Baileys new performance balancer. It's about £24 a bag (with £2 off voucher on each bag) and he is getting 2 mugs a day and feeling like he's fit as a butcher's dog on it!! I didn't know spillers were doing new ones too and not sure how much the spillers new ones are coming in at but would be interested to know?

Spillers RRP is £28.99 for the Original, £31.99 for the Performance, £18.99 for the Lite and £33.99 for the Senior, but efeed.co.uk are doing £5 off per sack atm.

Higher spec (from what I can see) than TopSpec.

Didn't realise that the Baileys was going to be so cheap, but fear it's too high protein/low fibre for my horse.

Not just efeed, Spillers are offering ALL bags at £5 off while stocks last - that's why I ordered 4!

You do know that stud balancers are WAY cheaper? and that off the record feed reps from the leading companies with recommend these over all the others! These othere ones are aimed at the one or 2 horse owner, hence the price hike, whereas the stud ones are significantly cheaper, otherwise no stud would use them due to stock numbers!

They may be cheaper, but they're not suitable in all cases.

Baileys and Spillers are 32% protein, way too high for a lot of leisure horses. D&H is lower spec on vitamins + minerals (fine if they're getting a source from elsewhere) and the Spillers is so low on biotin that I'd need a separate supplement, which somewhat defeats the point for me.

They're a good way of saving money if you're happy knowing the requirements for your horse and how to meet them, but they're not an appropriate substitute in all cases.

Really interested in these, anybody done a comparison with the Lite and Bailey Lo Cal, I'm feeding one of mine Lo Cal at the moment, but with the price difference would convert to the Spillers, winter coming and every penny counts....lol

Also anybody seen it in the flesh, rang a could of my feed places but they are not going to stock it, just special order.........Any stockist in Nottingham/Derby that stock it would be useful too....

Just to update, I have had mine on the Baileys Performance for about 2-3 weeks now and he seems very perky on it (which is why I put him on it in the first place as he seemed a bit flat or deficient in something) so it seems to be good stuff.

I can't speak for spillers/D&H etc, but I rang Baileys for feed advice for my eventer and spoke to one of their nutritionists, they could not have been more helpful, there was also no hard sell at all, and they were happy to accommodate into his feed plan the feeds from other companies that he was already on.

So if any of the other companies are a good customer service wise (which I think they prob will be) I would give them a call to help answer some of your queries about how they measure up to one another, which to feed etc.

I was looking at this the other day and would want it for the same reason as you! Does it improve anything else like feet, condition etc? How much is it for a bag?
