Just a quick question,
Do any of you use it? It says that i should feed my 10 month old 2.5 - 3kg of this per day. And when weighed out, thats around two round level scoops of mix per feed when fed twice a day. Which to me seems like a stupidly large amount to be feeding a wee lad.
It would mean i would be buying at least a bag a week, which at £12 a bag doesnt work out very cost effective either.
Does that sound about right or have i gone wrong somewhere?

that sounds a huge amount to me particularly if you have good grass.
My 7/8 TB 11 month old is having 1 scoop Hi Fi original chaff with 2lbs pasture nuts and Dodson and Horrell Surelimb ,their vitamin/mineral powder for youngstock,at the recommended rate.
She looks fantastic-I could pull her out of the field and take her to a county show tomorrow. We do have good grass and if I fed her the amounts of youngstock mix you mention I think she would be grossly overweight.
Of course in the winter she was fed more but again I found that on the D& H younstock balancer Suregrow at the recommended rate with a few pasture nuts and chaff and good hay she did really well. She is home bred and the mare was in excellent condition which obviously helped the foals condition

The answer all depends on the breed and size of your lad.
Talk to spillers. They will certainly advise you.

Yes it sounds like an awful lot of feed.Enough for a thoroughbred yearling.Keep on trying with spillers they really are a good reputable company and will help you.

Ive just done a google search on the mix,to spillers site their number is Care-Line on 01908 226626.The general feeding advice also suggests that this is too much.
PS is that him in the picture,he,s cute

Just wavering slightly off post but, my gelding (posts too many to mention) is just coming up to a year, and has been on Spillers YM for 9 months , after being diagnosed with stomach ulcars and poss anaemia it was suggested to pop him over to D&H Suregrow, the difference is quite noticeable. He is already picking up rapidly, and has to have far less of it, to get the rda vit and min balance etc.

Oh god, now i'll be worrying about stomach ulcers and anaemia!
See i had him on D&H suregrow to begin with but here its gone up to over £13 a bag. Maybe it'll be worth paying that bit extra!! Looks like i'll be swapping back!
Thankyou for your advice!

I was advised to feed my welsh A yearling D&H Suregrow, a high oil chaff and some sugarbeet.
She came off the welsh hills in december and is very backward in terms of condition compared to others at shows ect...so have started her on the above...two weeks on she is starting to look much better.
