After reading the article about bert, the rescued horse who's become a police horse, just wondered if anyone else on here has a spindles farm horse too? We got one, he's a little monster but in a good way.
He was very untrusting and a bit unpredictable at first but we've brought him on slowly and this year hope to show him. Anyone else a proud spindles farm horse owner, if so what are yours up to these days?

Can't say I am but thought I should say how nice it is to hear the outcomes of that horrific story! It's great to know that at least 2 (probably a lot more really) have lovely homes and are in a far better situation.
I hadn;t heard the story or Bert but it's so great to hear how trusting he is despite everything that happened at that horrid place!

It's amazing they let people anywhere near really! He's a bit touchy about having his back end touched, he clenches it or moves away and he's a bit funny in traffic, it all gets a bit much for him if there's a lot of it and he panics and darts forwards.
But on the whole he's a super little man

Well after all he's been through guess you can't blame the fella for having a couple of wobbles! Bless him, what a star! Makes you realise why we love these animals so much, to go through so mucha nd be so trusting is just truly remarkable.

Do you have some before and after photos? I think it'd be great to see him just to see how a horse from such a horrendous life can come good. You're doing a wonderful job.

I put a few pics on a while ago and havent taken anymore lately coz he's absolutely filthy, caked in mud and sporting a very attractive moustache. I'll get some more up in the spring when he's back in work and looking a little more respectable lol

I have a spindles farm horse (Blackie in my photo album on my profile page)

I bought him from Jamie Gray just before all this happened (2005), so glad I did.
He has taught a 4 & 8 year old to ride, my husband to ride & is about to take me affiliated show-jumping :) He is an absolute diamond & my best friend.

Bought my horse two years ago and have recently found out she was a Spindles horse. We've been told she was sent to a rescue centre, then went to a new home which still didn't sound so good. Then was bought by the people who got in touch. They said it took them a year to gain her trust, but she's done so well. She even on the website for the Livery yard she was kept at. She is the most willing, loving horse I've ever come across - always tries so hard to please and doesn't complain. We loved her anyway, but loved her even more when we found out where she came from. She's starting to do dressage - not bad for a gypsy cob!

My late donkey Melody who I lost in May to colic, came from Jamie Gray but I bought her off him in Southall Market in 1993
